Over 35 Million Monthly Unique Users Nominated Best Home Building, Remodeling and Design Professionals in North America and Around the World
Charco Design & Build Inc. of San Diego, California has been awarded “Best Of Customer Service” on Houzz, the leading online platform for home remodeling and design. The Best Of Houzz is awarded annually in three categories: Design, Customer Service and Photography. Design award winners’ work was the most popular among the more than 35 million monthly users on Houzz. Customer Service honors are based on several factors, including the number and quality of client reviews a professional received in 2015. Architecture and interior design photographers whose images were most popular are recognized with the Photography award. A “Best Of Houzz 2016” badge will appear on winners’ profiles, as a sign of their commitment to excellence. These badges help homeowners identify popular and top-rated home professionals in every metro area on Houzz.
As if summer light has finally arrived after a long dark winter, a gloomy, outdated 1956 ranch-style home in the Muirlands has become a sunny, open contemporary showcase with snowy white interiors.
The homeowners, who live in Moscow, like to spend time in La Jolla and transformed the house into a vacation destination for their family. Now the warmth of our Mediterranean climate floods the interiors with sunlight through walls of glass, ceilings raised to 14 feet and skylights in hallways and bathrooms.
Materials that provide high contrast between light and dark, textural and reflective surfaces are used throughout. A brilliant high note is the see-through partition in the great room with a design reminiscent of crackled ice by furniture craftsman Clyde Turner.

For him [Flores], it’s about the creation of the space. A self-described lover of fine art and old Ferraris, Flores’ love for the lines is hard to escape when looking at his architectural designs, let alone his side projects as the creative director for the San Diego Collection – a collection of rare and exotic cars.
“I think between the architecture, the art and the art of cars, everything has almost the same lines.”
